To Parents/Students:
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. There is lots of info on this site. Enjoy.
- The Pops concerts will be April 28 (Beginning and Advance Band and Orchestra), April 29 (Choir and Steel drums). All calls for concerts for all groups is 6:30 PM with the concert starting at 7PM. Black and White dress is required. More info will be coming.
- 3rd quarter Practice Charts will start on Sunday, Dec. 15. This quarter charts will run from Dec. 15 till Mar. 1 (9 weeks, 315 pts. Charts are weekly assignments. They are worth 35 pts each week for 2 hours of practice (and yes they get partial points for charts with 0-119 minutes). Charts go from Sunday to Saturday every week. Students turn them in to the “Snoopy” box every week. They need full name, the date of the week they practiced, times for each day, total time added up and a parent signature. All of this needs to be graded. Students can practice more than 2 hours if they want and put that on another chart if they are going to be gone on another week (like a vacation). Charts can be turned in up to 2:30 PM on Mar. 6. I won’t take them past 2:30 PM even if they are sick from school. They have all quarter to turn in stuff even if they choose to turn it in at the end only. Please be aware that if a student turns them in at the last minute and they are not filled out correctly, they will not be graded, and I can’t return them to the student for them to repair them.
-Extra Credit is going on for band, choir and orchestra students. Dec. 22 and Dec. 29 Holiday practice charts are not being graded as a chart. If a student turns them in, I will give your student extra credit for those weeks.
-Spring Play is "Big Bad" by Alec Strum. It is the trial of the Big Bad Wolf from the Fairy tale people. Play is May 9 (7PM) and May 10 (2PM). Mandatory Audition practices are March 3 and/or 4 from 2:30-3PM in the band room. Auditions are March 6 after school. Lots of info on the musical/drama page.
- 2025 CMS Masquerade ball is March 21 from 6:30PM-8:30PM. This is an evening/semi formal CMS dance/carnival for CMS students. The theme is Paris. I need some parents to help with chaperoning the event. We also are going to need small holiday lights. I am trying the build the Eiffel tower in the small gym (along with lit café and the Seine River front). The Eiffel tower built for the students to come in and be able to look up into the tower itself. It is 3D prop. So, I need lights to build the legs and bottom section of the tower. If you can help chaperone or loan us some lights, please email me. The money being raised is to help the fund the scholarship program along with helping the CMS student government.
-8th grade steel drum group is staring on Dec. 2 from 2:30-4PM. We rehearse normally Monday and Wednesday
-NOTE: I uploaded to your child’s google class a video that summarizes the Aug. 19 Parent meeting. Lots of info about policies, grading procedures, events info and more. Please use it if you need to get detail info on a lot of these items.

There will be no instruments for anyone on March 27, 28 and 31 due to the locker room being given to the honor fest. All equipment must be out of the locker room those days.
